What are the differences between the Custom Role, Common Member, Administrator, and Home Owner among home members?
Understanding the different member roles and their permissions is essential for effective home management. Each role has specific capabilities and limitations designed to maintain security and proper access control.
Home Owner
Permission: Only one per home; has full operational permissions and can set Administrators.
The Home Owner has complete control over the smart home and can perform all management functions, including assigning roles to other members.
Administrator
Permission: Can manage devices, smart scenarios, rooms, and Common Members in the home.
Administrators have extensive management capabilities but cannot modify the Home Owner's permissions or remove the Home Owner from the home.
Common Member
Permission: Can only use devices and smart scenarios.
Restrictions: Cannot remove devices or edit smart scenarios.
Common Members have basic access to interact with smart home devices and execute pre-configured scenarios, but cannot make changes to the home's configuration.
Custom Role
Permission level: Lower than Common Members.
Configuration method: Device operation permissions are custom-configured by the Home Owner.
Scope: May only operate specific devices or use devices under specific conditions.
The Custom Role provides the most restrictive access, allowing the Home Owner to create tailored permissions for specific use cases or temporary access needs.
