Using AP mode, the device indicator enters slow flash mode but it still cannot connect?
Learn how to diagnose and resolve AP mode connection issues when the device indicator shows slow flash but fails to connect.
Dear user. You can verify whether it is a network problem or a product hardware problem in the following ways:
Troubleshooting Steps
Step 1: Reset the device to AP mode
You need to reset the device to AP mode.
Resetting the device ensures it enters the correct pairing mode. Refer to your device manual for specific instructions on how to reset to AP mode.
Step 2: Check network frequency compatibility
Using a mixed network of 5GHz and 2.4GHz, or a 2.4GHz network, if the connected network is only 5GHz, it cannot be connected.
Most smart devices only support 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks. If your router is broadcasting only a 5GHz network, the device will not be able to connect. Ensure your router has a 2.4GHz network available.
Step 3: Verify the correct Wi-Fi hotspot connection
Ensure that you are connected the correct Wi-Fi hotspot (the hotspot name of the device usually starts with "SmartLife").
Important considerations:
- Check that you're connecting to the device's own hotspot, not your home Wi-Fi
- The hotspot name typically begins with "SmartLife" followed by device-specific characters
- Make sure your phone's Wi-Fi is enabled and searching for networks
Step 4: Maintain hotspot connection before returning to the app
Make sure the phone is fully connected to the hotspot of the device before returning to the App.
Do not switch away from the device hotspot prematurely. Wait until you see confirmation that your phone is fully connected to the device's hotspot before proceeding with the app configuration.
Step 5: Configure phone settings for insecure network
Some mobile phone systems mistake the device's hotspot network as an insecure network, and therefore cannot connect. You need to set it in the phone settings before you can connect.
Solutions by phone type:
- Android: Go to Wi-Fi settings, tap the device hotspot, and select "Connect anyway" or "Connect without internet"
- iOS: When prompted about the network not having internet, select "Use Without Internet" or similar option
Step 6: Check router compatibility
If you get stuck in the "Register to Cloud" step during the connection, the device may not be compatible with the router.
Some router configurations or security settings may prevent devices from registering to the cloud. Try connecting to a different router or mobile hotspot to verify if this is a router compatibility issue.
For router configuration issues, see Router Band Splitting for detailed instructions.
Step 7: Hardware problem diagnosis
If you still cannot connect and operate the device through the above methods, it may be a hardware problem.
Additional Support
If it is a hardware problem, you can contact the seller and ask for the after-sale services. Thank you for your understanding and support and wish you a happy life!
Common hardware issues:
- Faulty Wi-Fi module in the device
- Damaged antenna or internal components
- Manufacturing defects affecting wireless connectivity
Please contact the device vendor or manufacturer for further assistance with hardware-related issues.
